Roger Cain

Roger Cain was born in Burlingame, California in 1959 and has always lived in the Peninsula area, currently residing in South San Francisco with his wife Darlene.

Roger's interest in aviation started at a very young age, as his father (Robert aka "Bob") worked for United Air Lines as a Lead and later retiring as a Mechanic in the turbine shop. Traveling on United Air Lines from the time he was born, not a year was missed without several vacation trips with the family somewhere in the U.S. Roger went to numerous air shows with his dad, their favorites being Watsonville, Merced, Moffett Field, and Chino's Planes of Fame.

Roger picked up on amatuer photography from his dad starting around the late 1970's with an old 110 mm film camera, and has photographed and cataloged thousands of antiques, classics, warbirds and jets by type and registrations.

Roger worked as a Journeyman in the printing industry for close to 25 years before it dried up, trying a few different trade jobs there after. Roger was hired by Kaiser Permanente Hospital in 2002 and spent four years going through the Stationary Engineering Apprentiship with Local 39, and is currently a Journeyman with KPH in SSF, CA.

Roger attends airshows across the country, but mostly focuses on west coast shows and fly-ins. He has pictures and articles featured in numerous books, and writes regularly for the Society for Aviation History (SAH). Other publications that he contributes to regularly include Classic Wings, Warbird Digest, and Flightpath, with photographs appearing in other magazines as requested. He wrote articles for almost 20 years with the Pacific Flyer Newspaper until they closed their doors in 2013. Roger is currently on the board of directors with the SAH in San Carlos, and is also a member of the Golden Gate Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, the Hiller Aviation Museum, and Wings Of History in San Martin.
