Trey Carroll

Trey Carroll was born in Greenfield, Indiana in April of 1991, and currently calls Knightstown Indiana his home. Trey has a long passion for aviation driven by Carol, his mother, and Duane, his father.

Trey's father flew a S2F Tracker, T-33 Shooting Star, and a PV2 Harpoon, allowing Trey to grow up around warbirds starting at age seven. When attending airshows all around the Midwest he witnessed many unique sights from the air that most weren't fortunate enough to see, so a camera was given to him to document the different flights he rode on with his dad. At first Trey didn't want to take pictures, he wanted to be flying in the T-6 formations that his father flew in. However, a young enthusiast obviously couldn't be piloting the warbirds, so a hobby of photography started thereafter.

First armed with a small point-and-shoot camera, Trey upgraded to a Nikon D70, and started pursuing airshow and air-to-air photography. He was at the right place and the right time to be aligned with Warbird practicing the picture-taking art, he started setting up his own photo-shoots at 16 years old. At the same age, he soloed a Cessna 172 on his 16th birthday as well. Photography took Trey to airshows such as Oshkosh's EAA Airventure, Sun-N-Fun, and even Flying Legends at Duxford. After his visit to Duxford in 2008, he was published in Warbird Digest with a full story covering the legendary airshow with his own pictures to accompany. Trey has since had numerous photographs published in the Warbird Digest magazine as well.

Recently, Trey has soloed a T-6 Texan shortly after graduating high school in May of 2009. Once he was checked out in the T-6, the photography slowed down and the flying sped up. Trey flew to a handful of airshows, and his first time flying into Oshkosh solo as an 18-year-old was in the Texan! However, Trey is never at an airshow or fly-in without his Nikon by his side!
