Doug
Fisher

Doug Fisher was born in Weston, Ontario, Canada
in 1965 and has lived most of his life in the Toronto
area, currently residing just outside Toronto in
Georgetown, Ontario with his wife Sylvie and daughter
Jessica.
Doug's father and uncle were both pilots and avid
photographers. His father, Don, who flew the CWHM
Lancaster for over 20 years,
owned numerous aircraft and he and Doug and Doug's
brother Dave would attend numerous airshows in their
Cessna 195A. This led to Doug's lifelong passion for
aviation, especially WWII aircraft. He started
photographing warbirds and vintage aircraft in the early
70's and has amassed a large collection of vintage 35mm
slides along with his own photos totaling over 500,000.
Doug got his pilots license at the age of 17 and went
on to attend the Confederation College Aviation Flight
Management program, graduating with the Presidents medal
for highest marks in his class. Since then he has been
flying commercially, first in the Canadian North on
floats and skis, then for several small Connector
airlines. He has also flown Corporate aircraft and for
the last 20 years has flown for Air Canada where he is
currently a Captain on the A320 series of aircraft.
Doug attends airshows around the world and has had
his photos and articles featured in both English and
French magazines and numerous books. Some of these
include: Classic Wings, Warbird Digest, Air Classics,
Warbirds International, Air and Space Magazine, Today's
Pilot, Flypast, Canadian Aviator, Aeroplane, Airliner
World, Air International, Le Fana de l'Aviation as well
as programs for the Reno Air Races and the 2007
Gathering of Mustangs and Legends. He is also currently
a member of The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum,
Warbirds of America, EAA
and Planes of Fame and a founder of the Warbird Depot
website along with Mark Watt and Jim Buckel.
